Thoughts on salt, revisited

Salt. Still conflicting news.

Oddly enough, after the IOM made its mighty mighty pronouncements in June, not much of a peep has been heard on salt since. Now, two months after the venerable IOM called for drastic reductions in US salt intakes, the Chicago tribune gives a tribute to our favorite edible rock (Free reg. req.). Some sources say we're getting too much sodium and others say that we need more than we think.

Just to remind you, salt is critical to our survival, makes foods taste good, and helps us drive around on snowy winter roads.

Salt. Have some today. Of course, it's not like you can avoid it.
